In addition to being an energy saving bulb, the Bio-bulb is also a full spectrum daylight bulb which claims to produce the closest artificial replication of natural sunlight. It does this by radiating the full light spectrum of visible lightwaves wavelengths from Violet light at 380nm (nanometres) to red light at 780 nm at an intensity of 1750 Lumens.

Anyone who is unfortunate enough to suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D) or simply those who long for the summer may well find that the invigorating white light of the Bio-bulb helps to engender a feeling of natural well-being. Full spectrum light is ideal for reading and is claimed to have a wide range of additional beneficial effects including:

•Improved mood
•Deeper night-time sleep
•Higher levels of daytime energy.
Like most energy saving lightbulbs, BioBulbs radiate less heat than a standrad bulb, last considerably longer (10,000 hour rating) and also use significantly less energy (75% less) than conventional lightbulbs - in the case of this 100W replacement it uses only 25W of energy.

worth it

The light from the bulb is so natural that it noticeably rests the eyes compared to a standard light bulb. As for the anti S.A.D. effect...I've started using that bulb at the same time as I started going outside for my lunchbreaks and changing my diet so whether the bulb can receive all the credit I am not sure but the winter definitely felt less tough to go through last winter. I'd say it's worth getting.
